E-bike Routes on Ben Lomond
Ben Lomond Base to Ben Lomond Ski Village – $99
For those who want breathtaking views from the highest road in Tasmania, this route takes you from the base of the mountain to the Ben Lomond Ski Village. Ride through the stunning eucalypt bush on gravel roads, then take on the infamous Jacob’s Ladder – a series of six hairpin bends that will lead you to an alpine plateau with awe-inspiring views. As you climb, you’ll pass Australia’s largest boulder field and fields of alpine wildflowers.
The journey from Ben Lomond Base to the Ski Village is around 1 hour 15 minutes uphill, with a quicker 30-45 minute return ride. Don’t forget to plan at least 2.5 hours for your round trip to ensure you have plenty of time to visit the Jacob’s Ladder viewing platform and enjoy the incredible views along the way.
Blessington and the Foothills of Ben Lomond – $79 for two hours
If you’re after a gentler ride, Blessington offers a relaxing experience through farmland and bush, with stunning views of Ben Lomond. You’ll pass lush countryside, serene valleys, and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the foothills. The Burns Creek Loop takes about 1 hour 20 minutes to complete, but feel free to create your own adventure and explore more of the area at your own pace. After your ride, you can return to Ben Lomond Base for a well-deserved break at The Base Cafe, where you can enjoy delicious food and coffee while soaking in the mountain views.
