Last year, the introduction of state-of-the-art snowmaking machines from Italy increased the length of the ski season by 55% compared to the last three year average.

This year we’re anticipating being able to make snow even earlier, with the aim of putting down a base of snow weeks before the expected June long weekend official opening.

Ben Lomond Alpine Resort Director, Ben Mock, explains, ‘Having the opportunity to make snow prior to the beginning of the ski season will enable us to build a solid base layer of snow on the slopes. Not only will this base layer allow for better coverage, but it will also help to retain natural snow when it falls, keeping the base layer cooler and preventing melt of the natural snowfalls.’

The addition of snow making to the mountain follows years of infrastructure investment.

Along with the on-mountain developments, last year saw the opening of our Ben Lomond Base commercial area. A brand-new, purpose-built rentals building, ticket office and cafe at the bottom of the mountain. The cafe is now licenced and prepared for a winter serving all sorts of après ski delights.
