Looking after Ben Lomond for generations

Established in 1962, Ben Lomond Ski Patrol is one of Australia's longest serving ski patrol organisations.

An independent, not-for-profit volunteer organisation, the Patrol provides first aid, emergency care and mountain rescue support throughout the winter ski season.

Operating in a remote alpine environment brings unique challenges. The dedicated patrollers train, prepare and volunteer their time so visitors can enjoy Ben Lomond with the support of an experienced mountain safety team.

Trained & Prepared

Ready to respond

Ben Lomond is a unique and sometimes challenging alpine environment. Weather conditions can change rapidly, visibility can deteriorate and access can be difficult.

Ski Patrol members undertake specialised training and maintain their skills through regular training and recertification.

When an incident occurs, patrollers assess the situation, provide appropriate care and coordinate further assistance when required.

Specialist Equipment

Rescue in the alpine environment

Transporting an injured person across snow requires specialist skills and equipment.

Rescue sleds and snowmobiles can play an important role in reaching and transporting patients where conventional vehicles cannot operate.

The Patrol works alongside resort operators and emergency services to support a coordinated response when needed.
