Conquer the Ultimate Mountain Bike Experience, the Ben Lomond Descent, now from Ben Lomond BASE

The Ben Lomond Descent comes to Ben Lomond BASE

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve joined forces with the awesome team at Mountain Bike Tasmania for an unmissable experience – The Ben Lomond Descent, from right here at Ben Lomond Alpine Resort BASE.

Situated in the heart of the Tassie wilderness, The Ben Lomond Descent is a must-try for anyone keen on mountain biking adventures. This legendary 25km ride down Ben Lomond Mountain promises breathtaking views of boulderfields, alpine plateaus, and eucalypt forests, as well as heart-pounding descents that showcase the best of Ben Lomond National Park. You’ll ride down Jacobs Ladder and drop a total of 1050 vertical metres until you reach Ben Lomond BASE.

The MTB tour is run by Mountain Bike Tasmania who’ve been providing tours of the Ben Lomond Descent for nearly 20 years! Ian and his team of local guides tailor each ride so even entry-level riders can experience The Descent. They can also offer extra technical sections for those with a more extensive mountain biking experience.

Our partnership means that Mountain Bike Tasmania now offers tours directly from Ben Lomond BASE. Along with a convenient location half an hour from Launceston airport and an hour and a half from the Spirit of Tasmania’s dock in Devonport, Ben Lomond BASE offers all the facilities you need to enjoy your day on the mountain. Our cafe stocks a wide range of hot and cold food including sweet treats and an ever-changing selection of freshly made sandwiches to keep you fueled up for your journey. If that doesn’t energise you, our barista-brewed TasCaffe coffee certainly will! Mountain Bike Tasmania’s tours of The Descent will now start and end at Ben Lomond BASE, and include a meal at the BASE Cafe!
